Architects Austin Smith Lord have now been appointed by Linc Cymru Housing Association to work with them and their project partners to develop plans for a new Wellness Village in Bridgend.

Linc Cymru are working with ARCH and Bridgend Council on exciting proposals to redevelop the Sunnyside site. The project is part of ARCH's wider plans to create a regional network of health and wellness sites - these will include Llanelli Wellness & Life Science Village in Carmarthenshire and Swansea City Centre Wellness Centre

The project will improve community focused services in Bridgened and also help regenerate the site of the old Magistrates Court.

The development will provide much needed social housing, supported living accommodation, a new primary care health centre and new community spaces which focus on improving the wellbeing of its users, residents and wider community.

The new health & wellbeing centre planned for the site will include GP services and primary care provision and will be linked to established leisure facilities.

Austin Smith Lord said: "The development's design concept will be based on clusters of different housing units around shared courtyards aiming to to foster increased community engagement and ownership among tenants."

The designs will also feature outdoor public spaces designed to encourage socialising, community events and public arts.
